HALIBUT AND ROCK FISH Halibut are a large, flatfish generally located on the ocean floor where they feed, although many have been caught on the troll while fishing for other species. Known as a scavenger, Halibut will feed on almost anything but prefers to be fed herring, octopus or other fish parts. Your guides will set anchor on “holes” where Halibut frequent and will “jig” off the bottom using heavy rods and reels. This tasty white fish averages in the 20 to 40 pound range but Halibut over 100 pounds are common and will provide the angler with the fight of their life. Available year round, their numbers increase in local waters from May until September. Ling Cod, Red Snapper and Rockfish are also abundant and can be found in similar areas where Halibut are fished.
Don't forget the nature you see along the way!!
